Consort Music by William Byrd, including ‘John come kiss me now’ (Fitzwilliam Virginal Book), and consort music from the collection at Marsh’s Library in Dublin by Orlando Gibbons, John Coprario, Alfonso Ferrabosco (the elder and younger) and John Jenkins.
As part of an extended tour of Ireland which also takes them to Dublin and Bantry, Spirit of Gambo will perform music by William Byrd in celebration of the 400 years since this great English composer’s birth in 1623. Of particular interest to Irish audiences will be a performance of music from Marsh’s library in Dublin, researched and selected by Spirit of Gambo’s director Freek Borstlap.
