Karen Underwood known as Cork’s Jazz diva enjoyed 5 sellout shows at the Cork Opera House in October of 2023! This summer and 2025, she and her friends Garry Beecher piano, Stéphane Petiet, and David Ryan drums will bring you the ‘ Karen Underwood experience’ with her show, The Music Of Nina Simone. The music of NIna Simone is a reflection of the life of Nina Simone.
Karen Underwood is a panelist on the Today show, singer and storyteller. She has performed at the National Concert Hall, Vicar Street, The Mermaid, The Pavillion, Cork Opera House, The Everyman, The Olympia, Marlay Park, The Millenium Forum Derry and a host of other venues.

Karen Underwood’s producer said, ´I first learned of Nina Simone when I moved to Cork in 1997 and I am still flabbergasted that I had never heard of this powerhouse of a woman. A woman whom I share so much in common. It’s been 20 years since I heard that name, Nina Simone and I can’t unhear it now´.
