Following last year’s successful run of The Trials, Barnstorm Youth Theatre is bringing its annual production, The House of Oedipus, to the stage this year.

“If a person commits a crime but does not know it is a crime, are they guilty?”

In this epic Greek tragedy Barnstorm Youth Theatre take on the world of gods and men.
The House of Oedipus features a cast of young people who present the story of Oedipus, a man who kills his father and marries his mother, with dire consequences.

Are pride and stubbornness the cause Oedipus’ downfall or did he commit some unknown sin against the Gods? He committed a crime but did not know it was a crime, was he guilty? Four Greek tragedies together, this full-length play brings us three generations, two countries, five kings, two plagues and one war.

Performances on the 25 & 26 April 2025 in the Barnstorm Studio at 3 John’s Quay in Kilkenny. The play contains mature themes which may not be suitable for people under 8 – parental guidance advised.
