Our Hedgerows, woodlands, fields and gardens are stirring with new plant life. This one day course will provide tools in investigative drawing and painting.

A multi-sensory approach will create a dynamic course, in which the participant will experiment with observation, mark-making and colour exploration.

This workshop will cover:

Observational and measured drawing
Exploring light and tone to create form
Colour mixing and matching
Wet and dry watercolour techniques
All Materials will be provided.

About: Mary Dillon has recently returned to live in Kilkenny. Her work, Abundance – Punica granatum, was awarded Best in Show at the American Society of Botanical Artists Annual International Exhibition held in New York, November 2022. Also last autumn, her painting , Wintering Out – Acanthus mollis was selected to represent the Watercolour Society of Ireland at the European Symposium Exhibition in Bilbao, Spain. Her Black Parrot Tulip was chosen by the National Gallery of Ireland as the signature image for their exhibition, Drawn From Nature in 2020.
