Seamus Fogarty & Guests

Tuesday 31th December 2024
Location: Cleeres Bar and Theatre, 28 Parliament Street, Kilkenny
Featuring Aftershow DJ – Grandmaster Edelle Mel
Seamus Fogarty is delighted to be finishing the year off with a full band show in his spiritual home. He’ll be joined by brother John, drummer Aram Zarikian & Emma Smith (fresh from touring with Beth Gibbons & Pulp) on violin, and whatever else she can get her hands on.

Irish alt-folk alchemist Seamus Fogarty has released two albums on Domino Records – ‘A Bag Of Eyes’ at the end of 2020 and ‘The Curious Hand’, released in 2017. He released his debut full-length, ‘God Damn You Mountain’, on cult Scottish label Fence Records in 2012. His albums have been universally praised for their fresh approach to song writing and unique fusion of traditional instrumentation and electronics.

His most recent release, The Hee Haw EP, was released on Lost Map Records at the end of 2023. It’s a remarkable collection of songs and instrumentals that Seamus has been working on and collecting over the last decade with the lead single ‘They Recognised Him’ receiving high praise from a wide range of DJs and personalities across RTE & the BBC, from John Kelly to Gideon Coe to Cillian Murphy

He kicked off 2024 with a sold out tour of Ireland and the UK and spent much of 2023 on tour with Lisa O’Neill. He has also appeared at many notable festivals including the main stage of Green Man, Eurosonic, Latitude, Electric Picnic, Cambridge Folk, Mosely Folk and Haldern Pop. He has appeared on Other Voices and recorded live sessions for Mark Radcliffe on his BBC Radio 2 show and Cerys Matthews on BBC 6Music.

Expect a live show that dips into numerous genres from krautrock to traditional balladry and everything in between, old songs and new, mixing conventional instrumentation with found sounds and live electronics, all fronted by Fogarty’s plaintive vocal and songwriting.
