SAVOUR’S SUSTAINABILITY ACTIONS

Saturday 26th October 2024
Location: Savour Market, The Parade
Sustainability is a priority of the Savour Kilkenny Food Festival. Each year we work to improve our systems to reduce the footprint of the Festival and to create awareness among the public of sustainable practices. Stallholders are required to sign up to our Green Charter which includes the elimination of single use plastics. While the public are encouraged to segregate their waste into bins provided. Waste from the festival does not end up in landfill!
At this year’s Festival we have a number of new initiatives that will help you reduce your impact on the environment while still enjoying the festival to the fullest:
2GoCups (deposit and return scheme on reuseable cups)
Refill Ireland Mobile Hydration Station (ditch single use plastics and get your water here)
My Gug Food Waste Disposal (turning food waste into Biogas for cooking)
Reuseable Savour Shopping Bags (on sale at the Savour Market)
Throughout the weekend there will be events highlighting food waste and discussing sustainable food systems. While on the Taste Stage chefs will be championing local producers and have committed to sourcing one third of the ingredients for their demos from within a 20-mile radius of Kilkenny.
