Superstar violinist Mari Samuelsen joins the RTÉ Concert Orchestra to close out KAF2024 with this exciting performance of Max Richter’s The Four Seasons Recomposed.
First performed in 2012, Richer’s ‘recomposed’ version of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons is a far cry from the usual classical ‘remixes’. Richter discarded 75% of the original work and recast the rest into loops and phrases that thrive on the tension between Baroque and contemporary styles. The result is both familiar and strange: a masterpiece made new for our age, and the perfect way to end this year’s celebration of music old and new.
