Join world-renowned bodhrán player, songwriter, and performer Rónán Ó Snodaigh of Kíla for a bodhrán masterclass that will deepen your understanding of this iconic Irish instrument. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, this masterclass is designed to meet you where you are and help you improve your skills.
Rónán will guide you through the basics of holding the bodhrán and tipper correctly, laying a solid foundation for your rhythm technique. You’ll then explore a variety of traditional Irish tunes and receive personalized advice and practice routines tailored to your individual level.
This bilingual workshop is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best in the world while connecting with other bodhrán players of all levels taking place in Parade Tower exclusive to Kilkenny Tradfest 2025.

About Rónán
Rónán has toured extensively throughout his career with Dead Can Dance, Kíla, as a solo artist and most recently with Myles O Reilly. His solo show offers a unique mix of singer song writer with a strong emphasis on rhythm, and songs intertwining of Irish and English languages. His set is made up of all self-composed songs bringing traditional Irish into the contemporary and takes the audience on a journey that crosses eras, nations, and musical inspirations. Rónán also frequents Irish music sessions most recently having a residency in the Harbour Bar Bray.
He is a three-time winner of Best Irish Male in Folk Trad category Hot Press Music awards and his song from The Beautiful Road, Níl Aon Easpa Orm was nominated in RTÉ Folk Awards 2024 for Best Song.
