Meeting location will vary between a variety of trails and hills across Kilkenny and surrounding areas. Please note transport will not be provided.
Reaching New Heights is a hillwalking course that Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership will be running in partnership with Mountaineering Ireland. This is for adult women living in Kilkenny. You must be at least 18+ years to partake.
Day 1 Castlemorris Woods – 8th of August

Day 2 Brandon Hill – 15th of August

Please note this is an approximate location for parking as its not on any map or google yet. Continue past the campsite uphill until you see a new clearing on the right side with fresh stone chips.The session will start at 10am please arrive approximately 10 minutes before the session starts. The session will finish at approximately 4pm.
Day 3 Mt Leinster – 22nd August

The parking is on beyond this bend on a forest road.
Please wear comfortable clothing – leggings, tracksuit bottoms, breathable T-Shirt and fleece & an extra warm layer. Be ready for the rain, pack a rain jacket and rain trousers. If weather is good please ensure that you’re wearing sun protection. Wear good sturdy walking shoes or hillwalking boots with woolly or synthetic socks. Have a backpack with some water and snacks
The course will be delivered by a qualified hillwalking leader. The leader will guide you on a weekly walk and share key hillwalking information. After 3 walks are completed you will then have the opportunity to take part in a two-day practical training day that will teach you how to go hillwalking with your friends and family, safely and independently.

Have a backpack with some water and snacks for the short day and sandwiches and snacks, coffee, or tea for the longer days. Don’t forget to bring any personal medicine, inhaler, epipen etc.
