Oisin Mac Cinnéide is a traditional Irish musician and composer, born in Dublin and now living in Kilkenny. He will be launching his debut album ‘The Orchard’, at Cleere’s Theatre on Saturday November 25th, which consists of self-composed tunes that he recorded with Seán Mac Cinnéide, Cormac Murphy, Michael King and Tommy O’Hora.
Oisín plays the bouzouki, guitar, fiddle and piano, and grew up playing music with the Craobh Naithí branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí na hÉireann. He has played at numerous festivals and events including the Kilkenny TradFest, Sligo Live Festival, Temple Bar Trad Fest and Féile Nasc to name a few.
‘The Orchard’ is Oisín’s debut album, and consists of seven newly composed tracks. The music was recorded in the Hellfire Studio in the Dublin mountains with his brother Seán (percussion) along with old friends and talented musicians; Michael King (flute/whistles), Cormac Murphy (accordion) and Tommy O’Hora (bass/piano). The tracks are a mix of melodic whistle pieces alongside lively playing on the accordion accompanied by bouzouki, bass and cachan. The new tunes are traditional with a modern element and have a full and captivating sound.
