The absolutely brilliant Belinda Murphy will present an in-depth look at some of the most exciting choreography ever created for musical theatre in this West Side Story dance workshop on Sunday, 8th October from 9:30-12:30pm.

Belinda is Ireland’s leading Choreographer/Movement Director for both stage and screen. In her career as a dancer, Belinda appeared in many musicals and stage shows both in Ireland and abroad. She worked as Assistant Choreographer and Dancer in the original Riverdance at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, and subsequently at the Royal Command Performance at the London Palladium.

Most recently, Belinda was Dancer Casting Director UK & Ireland for Disney’s Disenchanted and has completed work on feature films including The Last Duel, Irish Wish, The Pope’s Exorcist, Abigail and The Tourist.
Other choreography and movement direction credits on the big and small screen are The Tudors, Camelot, Love/Hate, Leap Year, Albert Nobbs, Love Rosie, Secret Scripture, Sing Street, The Man Who Invented Christmas, Vikings, The Winx Saga and Valhalla.

Her stage direction/choreography credits include Sleeping Beauty (3Arena), Messiah XXI starring Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan, The Wiremen (Gaiety Theatre), Celtic Thunder (USA & Australia Tours 2007-2019), numerous pantomime seasons at the Olympia Theatre, UCH Limerick and Cork Opera House.

She has just completed her fifth year directing the UK Tour of Menopause the Musical 2.
Her love of West Side Story began in 1990, when she played the role of Francesca in the UK/Irish production at the Olympia Theatre; the choreography was re-created from the first London staging of West Side Story by their director/choreographer Robert Arditti who played Baby John in that original production.
