Music Generation Kilkenny is gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day with a special performance ‘Under the Moon’ as part of the St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny.

Building on their wonderful performance on Ireland AM and at St. Canice’s Cathedral as part of last year’s St. Patrick’s Day festival, the Castlecomer Trad Ensemble will be joined by young musicians from the Castlecomer TradHub, as well as young Uilleann Pipers. The addition of the Uilleann Pipers will create a magical atmosphere that highlights the depth and beauty of Irish Music. The young uilleann pipers will perform tunes together and will then join forces with the Trad Ensemble for a memorable performance.

The Trad Ensemble consists primarily of Music Generation Kilkenny students but is open to any young musicians living in Kilkenny and its surrounds.

Completing the lineup is the Kilkenny Youth Choir. The Youth Choir are seasoned performers, giving regular performances in St Canice’s Cathedral and other venues around Ireland.

The combination of the performing groups, traditional musicians, uilleann pipers and a choir performing in such an historic venue under the art installation ‘Under the Moon’ promises to be a truly special experience.
