We are moving from private capital to surveillance capitalism, where information and everything about you is being gathered and sold. In the media, tech companies are allowing all sorts of made-up shit, to be circulated and repackaged as news, undermining politics profoundly. As they encroach on all aspects of our lives, is it time to rein in the tech Leviathans?
Apple is valued at over $3 trillion. Only 6 countries – the US, China, Japan, Germany, the UK, and India — have a gross domestic product (GDP) bigger than Apple’s total market value. With that firepower and they encroach on all aspects of our lives, is it time to rein in such tech Leviathans?
