Benched

Friday 18th August 2023
Location: Cleere’s Bar and Theatre
Benched is a one-person show with a concept so simple it’s almost revolutionary. Flaherty takes a bench to a public location and invites strangers to sit with them, sharing stories and making connections. The stories that arise from these intimate, one-to-one encounters are then woven into their show.

Tink Flaherty is a queer, non-binary and neurodivergent artist from the north of England, with Irish Traveller heritage. Since 2018 Benched has been performed all over the UK to great acclaim, and we’re thrilled to welcome Flaherty to Kilkenny. Sometimes cheeky, sometimes shocking, Benched is a multisensory show that explores powerful themes of class, gender and neurodivergence with humour and hope.
