For one night only, the smash hit musical play ARE YA DANCIN’? – A Showband Story, written by Carol Gleeson and Helen Spring will light up the stage at Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny.
This beautiful Irish tale, set in 1960’s Donegal, offers a snapshot in time when Ireland was finally starting to find its’ voice and when showband music was the revolutionary language of the people.

Amidst this wondrous golden era of music, the story follows Tommy O’Neill who finds himself at the helm of an up-and-coming showband. As his star rises, he struggles both professionally and personally against the restrictive societal expectations of the time.

Get ready to join Tommy on his rollercoaster journey of both heartache and joy and witness the music, magic and glory of the past through the knockout songs of Ireland’s greatest dancehalls and revel in a host of hilarious and memorable characters.

Showcasing a LIVE seven-piece band and boasting an impressive thirty-plus cast, this theatrical spectacle is steeped in nostalgia.

Musical numbers include hits such as “The Hucklebuck”, “Rock Around the Clock”, “If I Could Choose”, “I’m a Believer”, “Hit the Road Jack” and “From the Candystore” among many more.
