Chamber Choir Ireland

Tuesday 15th August 2023
Location: St Canice’s Cathedral
Conductor: Paul Hillier

Led by Grammy-winning Artistic Director, Paul Hillier, Chamber Choir Ireland returns to Kilkenny to find light in the dark with In Paradisum, a programme of deeply spiritual works. Hillier is one of Arvo Pärt’s most celebrated interpreters, and the programme opens with two works by the famed Estonian composer: Morning Star and O Holy Father Nicholas.

The centrepiece of this programme is the Irish premiere of Rhona Clarke’s Requiem, a work that forgoes judgement and embraces redemption, while Caroline Shaw’s mesmerising co-commission How to fold the wind – originally intended as a world premiere at the 2020 Festival – is finally performed for a live Kilkenny audience.
