Migration Sonata

Friday 11th August 2023
Location: Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny
John Scott’s Irish Modern Dance Theatre is one of the most acclaimed dance companies in Ireland, celebrated for developing breathtakingly original new works in collaboration with a wide range of people, from leading Irish and international dancers to refugees and torture survivors.

Their previous shows in Kilkenny (Lear in 2014, and Inventions in 2018), featuring legendary New York dancer Valda Setterfield, were must-see events.

For this new piece, Migration Sonata, which has been workshopped in Kilkenny since October 2022, Scott brings together members of the migrant community in Kilkenny, creating a profound and moving exploration of our similarities and differences through a rich blend of movement and song.
