200 years tomorrow: the hangings in Galmoy

Location: Eirke, Castletown, Co. Kilkenny.
Following the ambush and killing of local landowner, John Marum, on 16th March 1824, six local men were convicted of the killing and sentenced to death by hanging.

The men were brought from Kilkenny Gaol on 26th August 1824 to Knockshinraw and were hanged there, close to where John Marum was killed. Five of the men protested their innocence to the end.

As this is an outdoor event, in a field, suitable clothing and footwear is advised
